Don't Be Afraid of Prom Photos!
Good posture is key! Stand up straight, but not stiff. It will make your body look leaner and keep your prom dress from bunching up in the middle.
Choose a side. Look in the mirror and study old photos of yourself. Does one side of your face that you like better? When you are in front of the camera, let the photographer know which one it is.
Ask your date if he will practice some poses with you. You don't have to stay with the traditional prom photos, either. Be brave and practice a dance dip--don't let him drop you on the floor--or practice facing each other as though you are dancing. (It is probably not a good idea for him to pick you up if you are wearing a short prom dress.) Don't make the photos too sexy...you will probably regret it later!
Ask the photographer to show your corsage and his boutonniere if you would like to have them in your prom photo.
Short date? Take your shoes off for the prom poses and avoid standing in front of him--you won't step on his macho toes.
If you want to show off your eyes, make sure that you are not smiling so big that you are squinting. Keep your eyes open and relaxed and don't raise your eyebrows. You might want to practice your grin in front of a mirror. Say "cheese".
If he is a 'macho man' let him know it's okay to look serious, but try to get him to avoid the tough-guy, chip up squint. Try to be complimentary in your expressions. It's not best to have a toothy smile if he is going to make a serious face. Try to match a little.
Be prepared. Take a quick peek in a pocket mirror before the prom pictures are snapped. Make sure your hair is in place and make up is looking fresh.
Forget stiff smiles and awkward poses-here's how to look amazing in your prom pictures!
